# Global Webhooks

## How global webhooks work

When a subscribed event occurs, SmartSurvey sends an HTTP request to your configured endpoint URL (the “Post To URL”).

Global webhooks are best for:

* Centralised integrations
* One endpoint handling multiple surveys
* Standard payload formats with minimal configuration

## Configure webhook URLs (global webhooks)

**Add a new webhook in your SmartSurvey account**

To add a new webhook using the SmartSurvey web application:

1. Navigate to **My Account** in your SmartSurvey account.
2. Click **Global Webhooks** from the left menu.
3. Click **Add a Webhook** at the top of the page.
4. Add your webhook URL under **Endpoint URL**.
5. Give your webhook an optional **name**.
6. Select the **Data Format** for your payload - **JSON or XML**
7. Choose the events you want to listen for (for example, when a survey response is completed, disqualified or updated).
8. Select which **surveys** you wish to target (defaults to all surveys on your account).
9. Set whether you want your webhook to be **active** or not.
10. Click Create Webhook.

Note that global webhooks will batch events in an array if you receive multiple responses within a short space of time.
